York Mosque raise funds to provide local homeless people with Cold Survival Kits over the New Year holidays.
As the New Year fast approaches the weather has turned incredibly cold with a deep frost gripping large parts of the country. iCare which is the UK Relief Department of UKIM has been raising funds to distribute Cold Survival Kits to provide some respite for the homeless sleeping rough in the bitter winter. UKIM has 50 mosques across the country and they have been taking part in the effort to support the homeless in their local communities.
York Mosque of Bull Lane, which is UKIM’s York branch, has been taking part in the iCare fundraiser and have also raised over £600 last Friday as part of a wider appeal across the country which to date has raised close to £10,000.
Mehboob Surve who is Chairman of York Mosque had this to say; “It gives me great pleasure to support projects and charities which benefit the local population of York. 20 survival kits are being distributed across our city and many more across other parts of the country. I am looking forward to working with iCare in 2017 and beyond.”
Irman Tariq who is the head of iCare said: “The iCare Cold Survival Kit project is going to support many homeless people sleeping rough all across the country. With 50 UKIM branches participating across the country it is incredibly inspiring to see York Mosque get involved to help those that are less fortunate than them in their local area.”
With distribution of kits to take place over the holidays nationwide you can keep up to date with iCare on their website www.icare.uk.com.
